The opinionated ramblings and muses of a weary web victim.

As you may have guessed by now....I'm kinda into Microsoft's FSX [the flight sim] .... because the scope for 'skinning' is pretty much limitless.   All those planes ...all those liveries....

But, along with high-end graphic cards, etc. you need input [as Number 5 would say] ....via something half-decent as a throttle and stick.

I've been using the Saitek X52 Pro for a couple of years...

...but there's another one....and it has a higher number [so must be better] the X65F Pro ....

...and the fun thing is....the stick doesn't move.  At all.

It responds to pressure instead .... no moving parts.

Now all I have to do is wait for it to arrive....

Snow....I already have the seat, wheel and pedals...

Oh heck....saw the vid....

I guess the only way to make it TRULY accurate is....every time you crash your bank account is electronically accessed and reduced...

Nice equipment but far more than I would need to fly a plane into the ground. It would have to come with the ejector seat and parachute options.

That's awesome.

And one day you might have a whole car if you keep collecting bits.

And one day you might have a whole car if you keep collecting bits.

Years of standing trackside has seen me acquire all sorts of 'bits'...

There was a time when it was spanners....but for some reason always 1/2 - 9/16 AF only....so I never collected a useful set.

Car's logbook and driver's licence was probably the most significant.....

....funniest was a sign which read "Mechanic under vehicle".

In bikes it was always foot pegs....one side only, of course....again no set....

Yes, I imagine there'd be a variety of collectibles at such race meets... bits n' pieces that 'fall off' mid-race.

"Mechanic under vehicle".
For some reason, a picture of a mechanic, still under the car and hanging on for dear life comes to mind. Of course, given the rather small amount of ground clearance, he would have to be a rather thin mechanic.

Yeah, reminds me of the husband and wife on their way to the supermarket.  Just before they get to the carpark their car comes to a screaming halt... won't go another inch.

The husband suggests to the wife that he will attempt to fix the car while she pops inside and does the shopping.  She agrees to this and leaves him under the car tinkering.

After about half an hour the husband decides he cannot fix the car and calls for a mechanic to come look at it.  When the mechanic arrives the husband goes into the supermarket to look for his wife.  However, while he is on his way in she is going through the checkout and they miss each other.

Upon getting back to the car the wife looks down and sees her 'husband's' nob and nuts hanging out of his Stubbies [shorts] and promptly tucks them back in before anyone else could see them.

First sound she hears is the mechanic's head hitting the gearbox... then her husband behind her asking what she was doing.

Too too much.

The gear arrived yesterday [Friday] and this evening I rigged it up...and took it for a spin.

Works a treat .... the static joystick is a little un-nerving but you get used to it quick enough...

Oh I'm so glad my joystick has some flexibility.

I love how it feels to wiggle it side to side and up and down.

Even the missus loves to play with it... and my, has she a strong grip.

Now that can be a bit un-nerving.

Yeah, I sometimes worry about the loss of circulation, her grip is that tight.

It gets to the point when I think I'm gonna have to pry her hand off it before her fingers turn blue...

... and the plastic handle caves in under the pressure of her vice-like grip

She really gets into her games at times... and it's only an inexpensive Logitech thing, but it seems to be coping well with the stress.

And you should hear the language when her character in the game gets killed
