The opinionated ramblings and muses of a weary web victim.

I moderate the Screensaver section.....[all those installs/exe's/scr's can be a pain].... and so many tend to be 'much of a muchness'....

But now and the there'll be one or two that prompt a smile.....

....or something....

ECG https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=670&libid=40 by Ausvet ....I kept watching it.....waiting for a flatline  [now there's a lost opportunity].

Then there's COSMOS https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=677&libid=40, again by Ausvet ....

This one had me a bit worried....was sure I'd picked the wrong day to give up glue-sniffing....

Wasn't so much 'spatial' as 'spaced out' - stare at it long enough and it's a cheap trip....

I think these things [savers] started with Flying Toasters ..... and after a quick go at emulating a fishtank and cascading figures a-la Matrix sort of hit a rut with dodgey, wobbly water/beach scenes with dyslexic birds proving their pea-brain-ality by circling repeatedly [and loopy].

Sometimes it's all a bit like building a better mousetrap .....many try, but often all the result is yet another scrap of pine with a spring on it.

And snowflakes...

What's with them?  I'm 54 years old and have never seen one fall [for real] but geez I've seen enough in savers.....more than enough....it's like a serious dose of dandruff.

More power to the fun ones.....no matter how trippy they make me....

When XP goes it's way, I think screen savers will 'evolve' (for lack of a better trm) into dreams... after all, those screen savers were originally to prevent 'burn' spots on CRT's.

Now that LCD's have taken over, I'm not sure that burn spots are even possible (maybe they are)...but if they are, dreams will certainly prevent that from happening.

Anyway, wouldn't it be grand if we had software that could convert favorite screen savers into dreams? There probably is software that can do this just dufus me doesn't know enough (as usual).

I'd love to see the space journey type ss that Google (I think) had converted to a dream, but there will be folks that want non-obtrusibe dreams as well...and I'm glad...the more the merrier! Diversity is a great thing!

Thanks for the post Jafo, despite all the spelling and grammatical errors ( ).

I too like screensavers especially when they are away from my laptop.

Yeah I love screensavers that is visually addictive.

I can't wait to release two new screensavers, but I am waiting for developer update before releaseing those screensavers.

I never use them myself. I either have something on my screen, or it's turned off. So what's the point to screensavers?

I feel the same about dreams - complete waste of space.

I never turn my pc off Fuzzy, that's why I use them, the only time my pc is off, is when the thing restarts itself, or the power supply fan blows when lightening strikes

on Dec 26, 2008

Leaving a pc turned on is also a waste. Over xmas in UK alone, pcs not switched off will use £8.66m of energy and produce 19,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide...

Yikes, I didn't know they used that much power.. this would explain my previous $1000 electricity bill

I'll just give up eating, and get rid of a few thing's, like the stove and heating system
