The opinionated ramblings and muses of a weary web victim.

My DVD burner died in my current/new machine.

I know they're built to a price, not a quality...but I figure I've used it no more than a few dozen times in its life....but it studiously waited 'long enough' to be out of warranty.

They shouldn't kark it that easily.

Maybe it was getting all moralistic on me...as I was attempting to 'rip' my Nephew's music to MP3 [and I'd omitted to let the drive know I even had permission to do it].

I reverted to the second one....that still works [for now].

Maybe too it 'heard me' thinking I'd remove one of them to free up space for a new, swish HD and got all upset....

Of all the LG-manufactured pieces of hardware I've owned, the only one that's died on me was my old CRT monitor, brutally killed by a blackout alongside my TV. Damn power company. About 70% of my optical drives have been LG, the rest being Samsung, and they've all survived until being replaced by a next-gen one, in spite of them being in heavy use for a week or so before sitting unused for months (I use them mostly for backups, which I make roughly twice a year).

In fact, I'm currently saving up for another LG LCD monitor, based on my great experiences with my current one. Dual-screen setup, here I come!

AndyBarrett
Elemental must be to blame! (jk) Because the other night it killed one of my sli config 9800GT graphics cards.  Just out of warranty too!  It's gonna cost me £80 to replace.  That makes me a sad panda!!!!
Elemental is best installed via Impulse anyway.

LG stands for 'lousy gear'

Paul, you blaming anyone for malfunctioning anything after it's been touched by the infamous Jafo bacio della morte is simply implausible.

My mother-in-law's cellphones (2 of them).  My father-in-law's cellphone.  My father-in-law's HDTV.  My father-in-law's refrigerator.  My brother's microwave.  My friend's cellphone.  What do all these things have in common?  They are all LG products that have crapped out in the last year, all less than a year old.  LG is absolute CRAP.  I wouldn't take an LG product for free.

EDIT:  And my father-in-law's LCD monitor.  Forgot about that one.  Needless to say he was pretty loyal to LG (or it's prices), but I finally convinced him to stop buying it... it's all crap.

I guess i am lucky then it seems everyone here thats owns LG stuff it has died, i have mainly Sony Electronics, tvs, home theater, etc, and over 20 years or more i have NEVER had a sony product fail, in fact my walkman still works, dating myself with the walkman thing, but thats just me, and i do have the last name of Murphy, and Murphys Law is very active for me, Sony must counteract the LAW

not a fan of LG myself either, but i have to say i have an LG dvd burner and after 6 years and hundreds and hundreds of dvd burns and hard use this drive is still going strong. Only problem i have had is sometimes the tray gets stuck and you have to press the eject button again. As for LG phones. WORST PIECES OF GARBAGE EVER!!!. the rest of their stuff, no idea as i don't own anything else by LG.

wow. i must be the ONLY person in da world who has never had an issue with my LG products.

I have had problems with 2 out of 3 lg screens. The last one has worked flawlessly for about 2 years, the others both had problems at delivery.
